If you are having a problem enabling mod for Skyrim, then you are at the right place. I've been searching everywhere for guide on enabling mod for Skyrim. Usually when I see on people comments they always say to change the 'bEnableFileSelection=1' under the [Launcher] in the 'SkyrimPrefs'. If people say it like that, obviously we will go to 'Game folder>Skyrim' since there we can see 'SkyrimPrefs.ini' file.
If you open 'SkyrimPrefs.ini' in the game folder, you will see the string is already there and didn't need to change anything. Unfortunately this is where most of us are wrong. What people didn't say is, the 'SkyrimPrefs.ini' is not the one in the game folder.
The real place is in 'Documents>My Games>Skyrim' aka the save file folder!!!
Okay some of you might already solve your problem here. For those who didn't, here are some more guide for it. =)
Note:
Your Skyrim will not able to use most mods when you can't choose the Data Files in the launcher.
If you can't choose or the DATA FILES cannot be highlight, then the string is not working.
Check back the string in the Notepad if it still there. Sometimes you need an admin permission (Run as administrator) to save Notepad file.

How To Enable Mod
- Go to 'Documents>My Games>Skyrim'.
- Open
'SkyrimPrefs.ini' with Notepad.
*Right click on it, choose 'Open with', click on Notepad. - Add bEnableFileSelection=1 under the [Launcher] section.
- Save and close Notepad.

Now when you open Skyrim launcher, you will see the 'Data Files' option now available. You now can use all the mods available and play Skyrim till you pass out. =)
Tips: You can use Nexus Mods Manager (NMM) to install any mods from skyrim.nexusmods.com.
Extra Note
- Even with NMM, you still need to enable the string in the 'SkyrimPrefs.ini'.
- Using NMM doesn't necessarily mean your mod will work perfectly. NMM is still in beta mode and some mods will not install correctly by NMM. So the best way for using NMM is by downloading the mod manually and use 'Add Mod from File' option.
- Manual mod install mean you need to manually activate plugin for the mod (if require). Just click on 'Data Files' in the launcher and activate any plugins that you need to use.
- Some mod require other mods to make it fully working.
Example: For fully working Mod A, you need Mod B, C, D & E. Check the mod info for further instructions on how to make the mod fully working.

I have add the command text and yes data file option was enable. But my game crash at start when I select hearthfire. Any suggestion
